Who among us hasn't watched cartoons! First on TV, then on big screen in the cinema. Almost every child's childhood was and is based on their favourite cartoons. And although their style changes with every generation, we always fondly return to them with memories. We recall with fondness the adventures of our favourite characters. What is a cartoon anyway?

A cartoon is a certain type of image, an animated, drawn illustration in a completely unrealistic style or in a semi-realistic style.

 

Cartoon characters, objects, houses, people, the whole world is a fantastic product of the imagination. Surely everyone remembers the "Smurfs" or the "Moomins", these are cartoons whose characters, lives and situations are unreal. Even though we realise that there are no dragons and people do not look at all like they do in cartoons, we immerse ourselves in the fairy-tale world very pleasantly and with great sympathy.

How is a cartoon made?

Of course, the first stage is the script! This is the basis of every film and animation. We get an idea in our heads, then put it down on paper and, according to the script, we draw! Sketches of characters, buildings and nature are created. The styles and types of drawing are endless. That's why at this stage we choose the character of the line and the style in which the whole cartoon will be created. Once everything is decided shot by shot, the cartoonist sketches all the scenes. To some, this might remind you of... a comic book. And actually it is a bit like that. Illustrations are created that form the plot of the animation.

With current technology, all the drawings, the whole 'comic book', 
which is created is scanned into the computer and it is there that the cartoon comes to life.
However, by the time we got to this point in the production of animation it was taking place a little differently.
Cards with drawings were displayed/twisted with such frequency that they created the impression of movement.

Once the illustrations have been scanned into the computer, the most important stage in the creation of the cartoon happens - we give life to our characters. The so-called animatic is created.

At this stage, the scanned illustrations are unheard of. They combine to form fluid shots and scenes. Thanks to special programmes, our characters come to life, moving and speaking very fluidly. The entire cartoon goes from being a black and white sketch to a colourful fairy tale world. Today's technological wonders allow us to make this work much easier with a graphics tablet.

Today, in addition to their entertainment function, cartoons have also found their way into many completely different areas of life. Many companies in almost every industry use 2D animation, the cartoon world, to advertise and promote their products. The style of the characters, the elements of the animation world, the colours - all these are very meticulously selected depending on the purpose of the animation. One of our clients who are big fans of 2D animation is the Elis company. It was especially for them that we created a step-by-step animation-cartoon to showcase their services.

First of all, the animation is pleasing to the eye, immediately arouses sympathy and you want to look at it. The colours we used strongly relate to the company's colours and style. The voiceover tells you in real time what the Elis company's services are about and what working with them is like. The animation is not only pleasant to look at but also very clear and understandable. We handled the production of this project comprehensively. From the script, to the choice of style and colours, the creation of the characters and all other elements of the image, to special effects and voiceover.

2D animation is becoming more and more widely used. Of course, thanks to technology, the way it is produced is changing, it is becoming easier and more sophisticated. However, it is probably because it is so associated with the carefree and wonderful times of childhood that we watch it with fondness and sentiment. Again, at least for a moment, we are transported back those few decades.
