Computer animation

2D animation - Playtegra
Computer animation, both 2D as well as 3D has become a very popular technique for creating promotional, advertising and educational marketing material. More and more software and gadgets are being developed to create better and more modern animations. What did animation look like in the past? How much has it changed? What was it used for in the past and what is it used for today?

First of all, it should be mentioned that the first computer animations were made mainly with children in mind. Today, hardly anyone remembers black-and-white cartoons with a non-smooth, even "angular" movement. Characters drawn on cards gave the illusion of movement. Later fairy tales with plasticine characters in their plasticine or puppet world. Each scene was a sequence of images with logistically rearranged character movement. In this way, the images, played back at just the right frequency, gave the illusion of movement. For some, such animations represent their entire childhood; some remember them as if through a fog. However, a significant number of people cannot even imagine what analogue animation looks like because they live in a world of refined and modern 3D.

Today, computer animation, animated films or any other animated material is often the work of many people. Besides, animation is not only entertainment.

We use current computer animation as:
  • promotional materials
  • TV and Internet advertising
  • instruction
  • product videos
  • medical and pharmaceutical materials
  • simulations of different situations and services
  • projects for companies
  • statements and summaries
  • depiction of content and information

The 2D computer animation we created for PlayTegra does a great job of illustrating the essence of the platform. First of all, it shows what it looks like and what using it is all about. Thanks to the fact that the image appears over the words of the voiceover, we absorb the information simultaneously through hearing and sight. Such multidimensional designs are much more effective and translate into sales results for a product or service.

More often than not, it is simplicity that is the strength.

For this animation, we used simple, easy-to-understand solids, elements and characters. Simplicity is often the strength. With the addition of a voiceover, we created a project that can boldly be used as marketing and promotional material, but also as an explainer and explanation of the PlayTegra platform.

Every computer animation has to be well thought out, choosing the right graphic style, technique, colours. All this must be appropriate to the purpose and goals of the animation. Today's technology gives infinite possibilities. We have reached the point where it is not the hardware that limits animation. The only limits are the imagination and creativity of the creators, the graphic designers. The available hardware and software have enormous potential. And we are getting better at using it!
